Unsigned pen, ink, watercolor, and gouache painting, starboard view of steamboat AMERICAN EAGLE (bu. 1834, NYC, by Lawrence Sneeden; used in Long Island Sound and Hudson River service; sold foreign 1858) leaving harbor (?), lighthouse at left, full rigged ship at right. Horses and crated cargo on foredeck, passengers aft. Red swallowtail pennant with spread eagle flies amidships. Small whitehall type boat hanging off stern. 2 porpoises swimming ahead of bow wave at right.
