Boxed gimballed, 4 inch, liquid compass from a Herreshoff Bar Harbor 31 design. Compass is marked "E.S. RITCHIE & SONS BOSTON" and bears serial number 63035. Card is marked "RITCHIE, BOSTON U.S.A." One bronze gimbal mount bears the number 393, possibly a Herreshoff Mfg. Co. number. Box has handle and remains of latch mechanism, both of brass.
