Mariner's dry card compass, mounted on brass gimbals, in wood (curly maple with inlaid rosewood in shape of star on top) box. Box lined with velvet. Compass, made by Gedney King II, (1777-1839), Boston, has brass bowl and curved glass top. Compass card engraved by Joseph Callender (1751-1821), Boston. Printed on compass card: "G. KING/ BOSTON" and "Callender" also printed on card. North tip of needle is blue. Compass owned by Braman - vessel - MORNING STAR
