Ebony and brass octant in stepped case, with brass fittings, entirely paper lined and bears penciled inscription: Paul Burrows Mystic/ State of Connecticut/. Broken ivory scale bears script initials SBR, and ivory maker's plate reads: Spencer Browning & Rust. London /. Octant lacks ivory pencil and plate on reverse. Case: 14 3/4" longer side x 3 3/4" high.
