Octant, frame ebony, ivory nameplate marked "JONES * LONDON", inlaid ivory scale on limb graduated -2 deg. to +100 deg. by 1 deg. subdivided to 20'. Flat brass reinforced index arm w/ivory vernier (0 at right), tangent screw & clamp screw, adjustable index mirror w/3 removable shades, horizon glass w/lever adjustment. Sight vane w/dbl. peep & pivoted cover. Pencil hole in brace w/threaded ivory finial (pencil missing). Ivory note plate inlaid on back of frame, 2 brass legs on back, one at top missing. In mahogany keystone box, bottom cracked, brass hinges marked "P. MOORE & CO./ PATENT/ NO. 2". Handwritten on inside of top "H....32". Extra index mirror.
