Octant, ebony frame, ivory inlaid scale, no maker's name on the instrument, brass fittings. On the cover of the case there is pasted an advertisement from Charles Lincoln at Sir Isaac Newton Head, Leadenhall St. London, makers of Hadley quadrants (w.1765-1805). Given in memory of the late Arthur K. Harrison, one-time Professor Emeritus of the Univ. of Mass.
