Ebony and brass octant (in step-case 1968.169.2). Has ivory scale, plate on reverse, and maker's plate reads: Spencer Browning & Rust London / H. DUREN NEW-YORK /. SBR stamped on the scale (between 45°-50°). Ivory pencil missing. Case: 15" longer side x 3 15/16" high. Trade label badly damaged.
