Octant; ebony frame; ivory name plate (no name); ivory scale (warped & separated from octant) graduated -10 to +97? by 1 subdivided to 20'; flat brass? index arm; vernier missing, back & front horizon glasses missing, peep w/pivoted cover, back peep missing, sun shade missing, pencil & ivory note plate missing, one metal screw leg missing; with case 1987.56.6; probably 19th century or earlier, probably made in London; belonged to Capt. Nathan G. Fish (d. 1870) of Mystic.
