Octant, frame ebony; nameplate in brace missing; scale ivory graduated -2 deg. to +104 deg. by 1 deg. subdivided by 20'; reinforced brass index arm; ivory vernier; adjustable index mirror, 3 fixed shades; horizon glass, turn screw & lever adjustment; double sight vane with pivot cover; pencil hole in brace; ivory note plate missing from back; 3 brass legs; stamped in the scale "SBR" (between 50°-55°), made by Spencer Browning & Rust, London, dated ca 1820; no case.
