Davis quadrant (backstaff) with reconstructed sights, ebony limbs, nameplate on limb missing, brace with 2 holes; 30 deg. arc marked 1 deg. to 25 deg. by 1 deg. subdivided to 10' and 10", diagonal scale with 90 deg. to 65 deg. altitude numbering; 60 deg. arc marked 1 deg. to 62 deg. by 1 deg; 3 sight vanes. The 60° arc has scale for correcting for the sun’s semi-diameter, therefore very probably English manufacture.
