Box sextant, in leather carrying case; stamped on face above scale "Troughton & Simms. London." (w. 1826 - after 1863); bronze or brass w/brass screws & telescope; silver scale reading -5 deg. to +145 deg. by 1 deg. subdivided to 30', silver vernier; hinged scale magnifier; single draw telescope (corroded closed) eyepiece missing; when telescope removed, peep sight can be slid into position; telescope mounts on offset arm that pins & screws precisely on sextant; 2 internal filters; cover/handgrip missing; key for adjusting mirrors; instrument appears to have been japanned. Worn leather case w/buckle & belt tab; inside is compartment for sextant & separate slot for telescope. Case dimensions: 4 3/8" x 3 3/8" x 2 1/4"
