Sextant, brass frame painted black, brass limb w/silver scale inlay, limb engraved "U.S. NAVY. N (circled) 575", scale graduated -5 deg. to +145 deg. by 1 deg. subdivided by 20', flat index arm w/swinging magnifier, index mirror w/4 shades, horizon glass w/3 shades, adjustable sight vane for telescope, 2 telescopes (4 1/8" LOA & 4 15/16" LOA), wood handle, 2 eyepieces, 1 adjusting screwdriver. In square box, brass shield plaque on lid engraved "U.S. NAVY/ N (circled)/ No. 5418" & carved on front of lid "K & E. SURV. SEX. 5418 N (circled) 575", ivory plaque inside lid engraved "KEUFFEL & ESSER CO./ ST. LOUIS. CHICAGO./ NEW YORK/ U.S.A." Certificate of Inspection dated 4/16/1918 glued on top of another Certificate of Inspection & both glued to Keuffel & Esser label inside lid of box.
