Brass taffrail log, possibly from South Chatham, MA; made by Edward Massey; 4 black-painted vanes, sliding cover exposes register and is engraved: "EDWD MASSEY'S/ New LLL Patent/ FRICTIONLESS LOG/ 14,617". Swivel tip of log has thimble, line missing. Face of register is white with 3 dials and is marked: "L / LL / FRICTIONLESS/ TRADE MARK/ PATENTEE LONDON/ L/ LL/ ORIGINAL/ EDWD. MASSEY."
