Builder's half model of an unidentified schooner, coast packet. Vessel built at Westbrook, Conn., ca. 1840-50. Model construction: 8 lifts, starboard view, no backboard, varnished, waterline lift mahogany, others pine. Transom stern, very full underbody, pronounced sheer, straight sternpost, deep forefoot. Back edge of top lift chipped, stern chipped, top lift loose. Original label reads "Schooner - name lost./ ...between 1840-50 at Westbrook, Conn./ ...a long discontinued Shipyard there./ This appears to be one of those merchandise carrying/ small coast packets which served coast and/ river towns before the NYNH & H.R.R. . . "
