Builder's half model of bark CALEB HALEY; 11 lifts in middle, 12 lifts at bow and stern; varnished on front, painted black on back; 2 metal straps screwed to back for hanging; typed label taped to back describing loss of vessel on maiden voyage during storm while loading mahogany off the Yucatan, Mexico, 1866, and subsequent rescue September 26, 1866 by brig FRANCES SEWER [sic]; handwritten label taped to back "The Caleb Haley was copied from this model, made by Capt. Everett W. Nash [sic.] in 1865. Capt. Nash was a native of Watch Hill, R.I. (a son of many generations of Sea Captains.)
