Builder's half model for oystering sloop [built circa 1880 in Wickford RI probably by Albert E. Saunders Sr.]; wood, port side; 4 lifts secured by wooden pegs; cardboard piece fitted on centerline and screwed to model with two metal hooks; cardboard stained to match model and extended below model to create 'rudder'; Howard Chapelle took lines for illustration of 'Noank sloop' type; see Chapelle "American Small Sailing Craft" 1951 edition, p. 251.
