Silver print; photographed by Carleton Mitchell; from photograph album 1996.31.6009; deck view of aircraft carrier RANGER showing fighter aircraft; heavy cruiser TUSCALOOSA and two destroyers in view; taken during a mission to bring U.S. Army P-40 fighter planes from Norfolk, VA. to North Africa; Feb.- March 1953; typed label next to print in album reads "The Tuscaloosa and two screening/ destroyers cross astern of the/ Ranger. In this picture the P-40's are closely grouped - the last day.".
