Large platter with hand painted portrait of an American sloop of war, of the period of the American Revolution, was probably one of the vessels of war authorized by the Continental Congress and built by the states, names lost and pattern faded and wearing off. Ship in black on green painted water. Has fourteen gunports, faces to right. Width of border 1-5/8", width of decoration 8".
