Model of clipper ship ANN McKIM, made by Elmer Tanner(?); Early Baltimore clipper type, launched in 1833, Baltimore. At that time she was the longest merchant ship in USA; her fastenings were all copper, no iron used; her passages compare favorably with the fast ships of the 1840's; dismantled at Valparaiso 1852. Marks transition from "Baltimore Clipper" schooners of early 1800's to much larger "clipper ships" of 1840s-1850s. Illustrated in color offset print 1993.87.1. Label inside model reads "#93 - March 1st 1935/ Elmer F. Tanner/ Marine Mod.../ Built to order and repaired/ 10 Marshall Street/ Boston, Mass."
