French gun (cannon) captured at Fortress of Louisburg, Nova Scotia, headquarters of French Army and Fleet - 7/26/1758 from the French by General Wolfe commmanding British forces. Fort was besieged by Gen. Wolfe & British Army Fleet for an entire summer and only captured late in the fall just as they had decided to abandon siege. This was year before Wolfe captured Quebec & brought war to an end as far as Canada was concerned. After resting at bottom of ocean for 170 yrs, where Gen. Wolfe had thrown it when he dismantled fortification, it was dredged up in 1928.
