Framed oil painting, on board, signed lower left "REYNOLDS BEAL". Handwritten on back "NOANK CONN/ WHALER/ ROSA BAKER of New Bedford/ Fitting out at Deacon Palmer's/ Shipyard". Said to have been painted in 1903. ROSA BAKER, hermaphrodite brig, bu. 1867 at Scituate, Mass., 103 tons, 82 x 23.6 x 8.9. Purchased by James W. Buddington 1899. Lost soon after on whaling voyage.
