Gelatin print mounted on card; 9 young men (identified on back, top Bentley, Crandall, Clark, middle Brown, Mussel, Bentley, bottom Landers, Goddard, Gates) sitting in camp on Mason's Island, Mystic, CT, one of the Mason brothers (Andrew or John) lying on ground at right; handwritten on back "CAMP RENTED BY NEW LONDON (CONN.) YOUNG MEN (SAID TO BE THE FORERUNNER OF THE LATER MASON'S ISLAND YACHT CLUB" and "Reclining beside the building is the Mason who owned the E. side of the Mason House on Mason's Island, descendant of the original Capt. John Mason. The above Mason lived "with" his brother in the same house for years. Each occupied one side of the house. They were on non-speaking terms for many years & it is said that their descendants hesitated to bury them in the same plot."
