marad; scrimshaw

Needle case (of fairly conventional type) made of generic bone (probably bovine). Scrimshaw-like engraving of very high quality depicting a tiger. Altogether a fine antique, NOT of whaling origin but possibly from the carrying trades (tiger suggests India and the Far East). Figure of tiger in red and brown ink. Wooden base with beveled edge, top missing.
