Binnacle stand, from yacht ATLANTIC, resting on a decorative case bronze (brass?) tripod with a lion head at the top of each leg and a claw on the foot of each leg. Contains a 7" magnetic compass made by Ritchie of Boston which is hung in 4 way gimbals. Has a brass hood with oval reading window and 2 receptables for oil lights, one of either side. Made by T.S. and J.D. Negus, 140 Water St, NY. ATLANTIC won the Kaiser's Cup in 1905. Brass top of one oil receptacle has been pilfered (GJM 7/18/67). Height of binnacle and stand without hood 27 1/2".
