Lime green dovetailed sea chest. Has interior lock, strap hinges and side cleats without beckets. Front and back slant inward. Molding applied around bottom. Lid extends over molding applied at each end, flush front and back. Lid chipped at back left. Interior has till at right and long shallow compartment along back side. According to donor, made by his father, John L. Smith, boatbuilder of Noank, CT, who sailed on "full rigged vessel" circa 1880; John L. Smith was known by Carl C. Cutler.
