Japanese jingasa, a style of head covering dating from late Edu (1603-1868) period, as worn by lower ranked samuri in execution of civil duties (not in combat); a circular, very shallow profile of light weight wood (possibly paper mache), finished in dark brown lacquer; black fabric padding with intact ties attached to crown interior; dimensioned dragon, bronze in color with red details, decorates exterior, circling towards a bronze and red colored animal; a round, 3 layered, fluted piece (tehen kanamono) decorates exterior crown; a plain black lacquered underside.
