Shadowbox model of the full-rigged American ship ANNIE J. approaching the shore. Port view of vessel with a lighthouse seen off the port bow. This model was made by Arthur Harwood in 1920. Carved in low relief and decoratively painted, shadowbox models like this one are a traditional form of sailor�s folk art. They could be made with materials commonly found on board ship, and they made great gifts for family or friends back home.
