Blue glass rolling pin of type taken to sea by seamen and filled with rum. Decorated in gilt, red and green. In center "The sailors farewell". At left under figures of sailor and his wife, child and an older woman "Far from home across the sea/ To foreign chimes I go./ While far away O think of me/ And I'll remember you." At right in wreath "When tempests mingle sea and sky/ And winds like lions rage and rend/ Ship's o'er the mountain water's fly/ Or down unfathom'd depths descend/ Though skill avail not strength decay/ Deliver us good Lord we pray."; purchased by donor from John Bell of Aberdeen, Scotland.
