Scrimshaw tooth, decorated on one side only with whaling bark and 2 whaleboats attacking a sperm whale. On the biting end of the tooth, in Old English script: "The Tooth of a Sperm Whale captured by Captain McCarty in the barque 'Adventure' Aug. 10th 1852 in Latitude 39 degrees 00' North Longitude 38 degrees 42' West - made 90 barrels."
