SCRIMSHAW & ALLIED ARTS - TEETH
marad; scrimshaw
USA, CA, San Francisco
ivory
Overall: 6 1/2 x 3 1/2 x 1 5/8 in.

Tooth attributed to the circle of N.S. Finney. On one side is a hen in bloomers (women's sufferage cartoon). On the other side, a bearded man in what looks like Arctic garb. One of a pair with 1957.708, which came to the seaport at the same time from the same source as Finney's celebrated walrus tusks (1957.704 and .705), and, as has been discovered from contemporaneous photographs, were exhibited together with the tusks at Abe Warner's Cobweb Palace in San Francisco.
