Irish immigrant's sea chest (c. 1847-1850) brought to America by James McKiernan, a native of County Cavan, Ireland, who settled in Yalesville, Town of Wallingford, CT. Projecting lid measures 44" x 14 5/8". Metal fittings on chest and lid to accommodate a padlock. Chest is wooden with hinged lid and leather covered rope handles.
