Engraving, naval engagement between UNITED STATES and MACEDONIAN. Printed lower left "Painted by T. Birch" and lower right "Engraved by B. Ta(nner" and at bottom "Extract from COMMODORE DECATUR'S official letter. "At Sea,/ Octr. 30th 1812. On the 25th Inst. being in latitude 29 degs. N. longitude/ 29 degs. 30 mins. W. we fell in with, and after an action of an hour/ and a half, CAPTURED his Britanic Majesty's Ship, MACEDONIAN/ commanded, by Captain John Carden, and mounting 49 carriage/ Guns." The U. States had 5 Killed & 7 Wounded the Macedonian 36 K & 68 W."
