Lantern slide prepared by the American Museum of Natural History from an original photograph by Capt. George Comer. Used by Comer to illustrate lectures about his Arctic and seafaring experiences. Depicts "Harry" [Ippaktuq Tasseok] carving walrus tusk. Harry is referred to in the North as Comer's "mate", and was the leader of a group of Inuit known as the Aivilik or Aivillingmuit. These Inuit of the west coast of Hudson Bay were closely associated with Comer and the American whalers for many years. Photographed circa 1897-1912. Same as 1963.1767.64.
