Glass negative by Capt. George Comer, taken in Hudson Bay, ca. 1897-1912. Depicts a group of Inuit women on deck of whaling schooner ERA or A.T. GIFFORD. Comer identified them as women of the Kenepetu tribe. This is one of several spellings he used to identify the people from the Chesterfield Inlet region. The modern designation for this group is Qaernermiut. Information from original envelope identifies this as Photo #23, # A61.
