Glass negative by Capt. George Comer, Canadian Arctic, 1897-1905. Depicts "Harry" (Ippaktuq Tasseok) using a bow drill. A tent can be seen behind him. Harry is referred to in the North as Comer's "mate", and was the leader of a group of Inuit known as the Aivilik or Aivillingmuit. These Inuit of the west coast of Hudson Bay were closely associated with Comer and the American whalers for many years. Identification from original envelope: Photo 12.
