Glass negative by Capt. George Comer, taken in Hudson Bay, 1897-1905. Depicts portion of head of a bowhead whale, with baleen clearly visible. Described by Comer as "whale head being hoisted over side of vessel." Photo taken onboard the whaling schooner ERA. Information from original envelope identifies this as Photo # 118. Number 7 is etched into emulsion on lower part of plate. Identical to 1983.25.53.
