Glass negative by Capt. George Comer, taken at Cape Fullerton, Hudson Bay, December 1903. Depicts the Canadian Government steamer NEPTUNE banked with snow, in winter quarters. The NEPTUNE had been sent to establish a government presence in Hudson Bay and to regulate trade. She carried a contingent of North-West Mounted Police. Information from original envelope identifies this as Photo 189, #16. The number 16 appears to be etched into emulsion near bottom of plate.
