Glass negative by Capt. George Comer, taken in Hudson Bay, ca. 1897-1905. Depicts portion of head of a bowhead whale, with baleen clearly visible. Photo taken onboard the whaling schooner ERA. Information from original envelope identifies this as Photo # 202. Number 6 is etched into emulsion on lower part of plate. Lantern slide 1966.339.47 was produced from this negative.
