Glass negative by Capt. George Comer, taken in Hudson Bay, ca. 1897-1905. Depicts a group of Inuit on deck of whaling schooner ERA. The men are wearing clothes obtained from the Americans. Comer described them as "Kenepetic natives." The Inuit Comer referred to as the Kenepetic or Kenepitu were from the Chesterfield Inlet region, and are more appropriately designated as the Qaernermiut. Information from original envelope identifies this as Photo # A 34.
