Glass negative by Capt. George Comer, taken in Hudson Bay, ca. 1897-1905. Depicts a group of Inuit and whaling crewmembers standing in front of whaleboats (some covered) and whaling gear. Some of the Inuit wear clothing obtained from the Americans. Similar photograph 1963.1767.227 also depicts the whaling schooner ERA. Lantern slide 1966.339.12 was made from this negative. Information from original envelope identifies this as Photo # 8.
