Oil painting of bark yacht ALOHA (II) under short sail painted by Warren Sheppard; signed at lower left. ALOHA, 206' yacht, launched by Fore River Shipbuilding Co. at Quincy, MA in 1910, owned by Arthur Curtiss James (1867-1941), Commodore of NYYC; flagship of NYYC; her mainmast was so tall that she could just barely pass under the Brooklyn Bridge. Warren W. Sheppard was born in Greenwich, NJ & studied yacht design & seamanship before becoming a painter.
