2 1/2 x 2 1/2 safety negative photographed by Rosenfeld and Sons during the time of the Newport to Bermuda Race in 1954. One of the Rosenfeld men took part in this race and spent his time on board SIRIUS taking images of every aspect of the work involved on board during the race. In this shot, a crew member is standing on deck on the far right of the negative on the starboard bow side while the vessel is on a starboard tack taking a reading with a sextant and a stop watch to determine their location on a map of the Atlantic Ocean. View was taken from aft looking forward on the port side showing the deck, rigging, sails and hatchway opening. Stamped neg. sleeve info.: "142918F / NEWPORT-BERMUDA / RACE 1954 / [BOX] 5381".
