6 x 8 glass negative photographed by Rosenfeld and Sons on June 15, 1912. Image of the 85' K Class cutter ISTALENA, sail #K3, built and designed by Herreshoff in 1907. She is seen here sailing on Long Island Sound of off the Larchmont Yacht Club, port beam view on a starboard close reach tack under gaff-rigged mainsail, topsail, staysail, jib and flying jib, with rails awash. Shoreline in the distant background. ISTALENA was launched in 1907 along with WINSOME and AURORA, the only three K class vessels ever built.
