Image of 65"5" Olin Stephens designed, Minneford Yacht Yard built 12 meter class sloop COURAGEOUS (built 1974 in City Island, NY) and 64' Ted Hood designed, Minneford Yacht Yard built 12 meter sloop INDEPENDENCE (built 1976 in City Island, NY) crossing tacks during a practice before the America's Cup races later that month. Visible in image: cropped starboard quarter view of COURAGEOUS on port close reach being crossed at bow by port side of INDEPENDENCE (12/US 28) on starboard close reach under marconi-rigged mainsails and genoas, sailboat under bare poles to rear of sloops in background.
