MAYFLOWER was a 100' cutter built in 1886 by George Lawley and Son of South Boston, Massachusetts from designs by Edward Burgess. She was an America's Cup defender and winner in 1886 and was an potential America's Cup contender in 1887. She was converted from a cutter by Lawley to a schooner in 1889. Power was installed in 1905. Her captain during the 1886 America's Cup race was Aub Crocker and her navigator was Joe Elsworth. She was the 5th defender of the America's Cup in 1886. She was the second defender designed by Edward Burgess, and she defeated the British cutter GALATEA in two straight races. Her owner in 1886 was General Charles J. Paine.
