4X5 safety negative photographed by Rosenfeld and Sons off Bayonne, New Jersey, May 3, 1943. View is a medium range shot of PT 196 from the port beam side and demonstrates the "dazzle" camofluage pattern painted on some of the PT boats. This pattern was not used extensively on these boats. More commonly, they had a "shark's" mouth and nose painted on their bows, especially once in the field, commonly in the South Pacific theater of war.
