Image is a closeup of an oil drilling platform showing the base of a capped oil well, several pipes, cable and a huge wheel. Steel cap has stamped on it, "Oil Well Improvements Co. / Tulsa, Okla. / Patented." In the background are large company buildings with the closer one having four smokestacks. Image is part of a series of photographs taken for or about Empire Refineries, Inc. owner of oil fields, refineries and railroad cars for oil transportation. Empire Refineries, Inc. also had places in Independence, Kansas and Ponca, Okmulgee, Oklahoma City and Cushing, Oklahoma and was a subsidiary of Cities Service Company.
