7x5 glass negative photographed by Rosenfeld and Sons at the Gloucester Fishermen's Trials, on August 27, 1923. SHAMROCK, shown undersail on a starboard quarter view, was launched in August of 1923 and was a 133' Gloucester schooner fisherman originally designed to partake in the Gloucester Centennial Fishermen's Races. Her designer was Edwin Perkins and builder was Arthur D. Story of Essex, Massachusetts. She was to race the 300th anniversary celebration of the founding of Gloucester on August 27, 1923, the Lipton Trophy Race, and the International Fishermen's Race, but ended becoming a trawler after a poor performance.
