FLORENCE, built over the winter of 1899 and officially listed as being built in Lloyds as 1900, was a 98' steam yacht, schooner rigged, designed by Nat G. Herreshoff and built by the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company of Bristol, Rhode Island. FLORENCE was renamed as FLORETTE in 1905 while still owned by her original owner Alphonse H. Alker who owned her until 1912. Handwritten neg. sleeve info.: "Florence / Y117 / Box 12". Handwritten on emulsion margin edge: "copyright 1903 / 1692 Florence".
