According to The Rudder magazine, the smaller mast belonged to the J Class sloop ENDEAVOUR II, and the larger mast belonged to the J Class sloop RAINBOW and was used on the J Class sloop RANGER during the trials. Stamped on original negative sleeve: "80570F MAY 20 1937 / [Box] 4340" and written: "Mast / R [indicating the image was submitted to The Rudder magazine]".
